Two proven therapies, one integrated approach
Hypno-CBT® is an integrated therapy that combines the structured techniques of cognitive behavioural therapy with clinical hypnosis, using a relaxed, focused state to work on unhelpful thoughts and the deeper beliefs behind them at the same time.
CBT addresses the conscious thought patterns driving how you feel and behave. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious beliefs sitting underneath them. Together they reach further than either does on its own.
In a session, your therapist guides you into a relaxed, focused state, making it easier to reframe negative thoughts, release emotional blocks and embed positive change at a deeper level.

Common questions about Hypno-CBT®
How is Hypno-CBT® different from CBT or hypnotherapy alone?
CBT works with your conscious thoughts and behaviours, while hypnotherapy works at a deeper, subconscious level. Hypno-CBT brings the two together, so you address both at once.
Which should I choose, CBT or Hypno-CBT®?
If you respond well to structure, homework and practical exercises, straight CBT may be all you need. If you have tried working on your thinking before and found the change did not stick, or if you struggle to switch off enough to do the exercises, the hypnotic element often helps. We will recommend honestly at your free consultation rather than pushing the more expensive option.
Is it faster than other therapies?
Some clients tell us they progress more quickly with Hypno-CBT than with either approach alone, and there is research suggesting that adding hypnosis to CBT can improve outcomes. That said, the pace varies a great deal from person to person, and we would rather be honest with you about that than promise a timeline.
How much does it cost?
The initial consultation is free. Sessions are £90 for 50 minutes, or £504 for a six-session programme, which saves you £36. All prices include VAT.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you are bringing. A specific phobia may resolve in a small number of focused sessions, while longer-standing anxiety or low mood usually needs a course. You will get a realistic estimate at your free consultation, before you commit to anything.
Will I be asleep or out of control?
No. The hypnotherapy element is simply a state of deep, comfortable relaxation. You stay awake, aware and fully in control throughout, and it is nothing like stage hypnosis.
Are your Hypno-CBT® therapists qualified in both?
Yes. Hypno-CBT at OLIP Therapy is delivered only by therapists trained in both CBT and clinical hypnotherapy, fully insured and working under regular clinical supervision. If you would like to see your therapist's qualifications before booking, just ask.
Is Hypno-CBT® safe?
Yes, when delivered by trained, qualified therapists like ours. We talk through any concerns first and tailor every session to you.
Can it be done online?
Yes. We offer secure online Hypno-CBT across the UK, which works just as well as in person for most people, with the comfort of being at home.
