You know your child best

When your child is struggling

Watching your child battle anxiety, low mood or difficulties at school can feel worrying and helpless. You do not have to face it alone, and neither do they.

OLIP Therapy was founded in 2004 by James Holmes and Sue Peckham, who together bring decades of experience in education and therapy. Our team has helped many children and families find their way through, and it is a genuine privilege to see young people grow calmer, happier and more themselves again.

The best inheritance a parent can give his children is a few minutes of his time each day.

Counselling

A safe space to be heard

Counselling gives children and teens a calm, confidential space to explore their feelings and build healthy ways to cope. It can gently help them:

  • Express emotions they may struggle to put into words
  • Communicate better with family, friends and teachers
  • Build coping strategies for stress, anxiety and worries
  • Grow their self-esteem and a kinder self-image
  • Develop resilience to navigate change and challenge
Hypnotherapy

Gentle, child-friendly relaxation

Children are often wonderfully receptive to hypnotherapy, which uses relaxation and positive imagery in a way that feels safe and even fun. It can help them:

  • Feel calmer, easing anxiety and stress
  • Settle behaviours such as bed-wetting or specific fears
  • Focus better, supporting attention and school life
  • Feel more confident through positive suggestion
  • Manage big emotions with steadier self-regulation

Working together with you: we involve parents and carers throughout, and work alongside schools and, where helpful, your GP. Sessions give your child a private space to talk, though if we ever had a serious concern for their safety we would always share it with you and the right people. For a diagnosis of conditions such as ADHD, your GP or school can help arrange an assessment, and our support works alongside that.

Questions parents ask

What ages do you work with?

We support children and teenagers, and we adapt our approach to your child's age and needs. If you are unsure whether we are the right fit, a quick call will help us guide you.

Are parents involved?

Yes. We work closely with you throughout, and often with schools too. Your child also has their own space to talk, and we will always keep you informed in a way that is right for their age and situation.

Is it confidential?

Sessions are treated with care and confidence, giving your child a safe space to open up. As with all work involving young people, if we ever had a serious concern for a child's safety we would share it with you and the appropriate people to keep them safe.

Can you help with anxiety or not wanting to go to school?

Yes, these are among the most common things we help with. We gently explore what is behind the worry and build practical tools to help your child feel calmer and more able to cope.

Do you help with ADHD?

We can support the emotions and behaviours that often come alongside ADHD, such as frustration, low self-esteem or anxiety. For a diagnosis or medical treatment, your GP or school can arrange an assessment, and our support works alongside that.

Do you offer sessions online?

Yes. We offer sessions in person at our Hampshire practices and online across the UK, which many families find easier to fit around school and home life.
