What is OLIP Therapy, and who do you help?
We are a specialist hypnotherapy and counselling centre offering hypnotherapy, counselling, CBT, EMDR, psychotherapy, and tailored blends of these approaches. We support adults, children from age 7, and couples, working with anxiety, stress, low mood, trauma and PTSD, grief, phobias, habits and addictions, confidence, relationship difficulties, sleep problems, weight management, and more.
Whether you feel stuck in a pattern you cannot break or you are carrying the weight of something that happened years ago, the aim is the same: get to the root of it, and create change that lasts. So you can feel calmer, more in control, and more like yourself.
Which therapy is right for me?
You do not have to work this out on your own. That is what the free initial consultation is for. We listen to your situation and match you with the right therapist and the right approach, or a combination.
- Counselling. A safe, non-judgemental space to explore how you feel, at your own pace. Well suited to grief, relationships and ongoing stress.
- CBT. Practical tools for spotting and changing unhelpful thought patterns. Highly effective for anxiety, low mood and OCD.
- Clinical hypnotherapy. Works with the subconscious to shift habits, fears and automatic responses, where willpower alone tends to fall short.
- EMDR and Hypno-EMDR. Excellent for processing trauma, PTSD and distressing memories, so they lose their emotional charge.
Many people do best with an integrated approach. We will tell you honestly what we think will get you the best result.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
Clinical hypnosis is used most often for the things that do not respond to willpower or good intentions alone.
- Stopping smoking or vaping. A single focused two-hour session.
- Weight loss and weight management, including our virtual gastric band programme.
- Phobias and fears, from flying and needles to driving, dogs and spiders.
- Anxiety, panic, sleep problems and confidence.
- IBS and gut symptoms, through gut-directed hypnotherapy.
If what you are dealing with is not on the list, ask. It very likely still fits.
How much do sessions cost?
Your initial consultation is free, with no obligation. Standard sessions are 50 minutes, priced clearly, with no hidden fees. All prices include VAT.
- Most therapies (hypnotherapy, CBT and others): £90 per session, or £504 for a six-session programme, saving you £36.
- Individual counselling: £72 per session.
- Couples counselling: £90 per session.
- EMDR: £126 per session, or £480 for four.
- Quit smoking or vaping: £295 for a single two-hour session.
Everything is set out on our fees page. We do not think cost should be the thing that stops you getting help.
Do you offer online sessions, and are they as effective?
Yes, and we have been doing it since 2012. Clients join us from across the UK and beyond over secure video, at times that fit their lives.
Online sessions hold the same professional standard, the same confidentiality and the same therapeutic depth as sitting in the room with us in Fareham. A good number of our clients actively prefer it, and do their best work from their own sofa.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you and on what you are bringing. Some things, a specific phobia or stopping smoking, for instance, can resolve in a small number of focused sessions. Deeper or longer-standing difficulties usually need a longer course.
You will get a clear, realistic estimate at your free consultation, so you know what you are committing to. The aim is efficient, lasting change, not therapy that goes on forever.
Are your therapists properly qualified and registered?
Yes. Our counsellors are BACP registered, and our clinical hypnotherapists hold recognised professional registration and are fully insured.
Everyone works under regular clinical supervision, and those working with children and young people are DBS checked. If you would like to see a particular therapist's qualifications before you book, just ask and we will send them over.
Is everything completely confidential?
Yes. What you say to us stays with us, within professional and legal guidelines, which we explain plainly at the start so there are no surprises. We are a fully accredited practice with proper safeguarding and data protection in place.
Where are you based, and how quickly can I be seen?
We are at Arena Office, Lancaster Court, 8 Barnes Wallis Road, Fareham, Hampshire, PO15 5TU. Free parking, easy reach of the M27 and M3. We see clients in person from across Hampshire, and online nationwide.
We often have same-week availability. The sooner you get in touch, the sooner you can start.
Do you cover Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and Basingstoke?
Yes. Fareham sits between Southampton and Portsmouth, so both are a short drive, and Winchester and Basingstoke are straightforward up the M3. Clients also travel in from Gosport, Whiteley, Havant and Chichester.
If the journey does not suit you, online sessions work just as well, wherever in the UK you are.
What happens in the first consultation?
It is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation, 15 to 20 minutes, and it costs nothing. You will speak to a therapist who will listen, ask a few gentle questions, and work out how we can best help.
There is no commitment at the end of it. It is simply a chance for you to be heard, and for us both to be sure we are the right fit.
Is hypnotherapy safe? Will I lose control?
Clinical hypnotherapy is safe and evidence-based when it is delivered by trained professionals. You stay fully aware and fully in control throughout. It is nothing whatsoever like stage hypnosis.
Most people remember the entire session, and describe it as deeply relaxing rather than strange. All it does is help you access the subconscious mind, so that change becomes possible where effort alone has not worked.
Can therapy help with trauma or PTSD?
Yes. EMDR and Hypno-EMDR are particularly effective at helping the brain reprocess distressing memories, so they stop triggering overwhelming emotion and flashbacks.
Our therapists are experienced in this work and will pace it carefully with you. You set the speed. Many clients describe significant relief, and a resilience they had not felt in years.
Do you work with children, young people or couples?
Yes. We have specialist therapists for children and young people from age 7, working with anxiety, phobias, school avoidance, confidence and more.
We also offer couples counselling, helping partners communicate better, rebuild connection, and face difficulties together rather than across a divide.
What if I feel nervous, or sceptical about therapy?
Then you are in good company. Feeling apprehensive is normal, and a great many of the people who walk through our door arrive feeling exactly that.
Our therapists are warm and non-judgemental, and they are used to creating a space where you can take things at your own pace. The first step is usually the hardest one. It is also the one that opens the door.
