You are not alone

More common than most people realise

Many people experience a sexual difficulty at some point in their lives. For most, it feels like one of the hardest things to talk about, and that silence can make it feel far more isolating than it needs to be.

At OLIP Therapy, formerly the Hampshire Hypnotherapy & Counselling Centre, you will be met with warmth, understanding and the strictest confidentiality. Sue, James and the team have supported many people through exactly these concerns, and there is no embarrassment and no judgement here.

A gentle note: some sexual difficulties have physical causes as well as emotional ones. We always recommend a chat with your GP to rule these out, and our therapy works well alongside any medical care you may be having.

How counselling helps

A safe space to talk and reconnect

Counselling can be very effective for sexual difficulties, whether you come on your own or as a couple. Through open, unhurried conversation we help you explore what is going on and find a way forward.

  • Understands the root causes, such as stress, past experiences, low self-esteem or relationship strain
  • Improves communication, helping you and a partner talk about needs and desires with less shame
  • Rebuilds confidence and a kinder relationship with your body, easing performance worries
How hypnotherapy helps

Easing the anxieties beneath the surface

Hypnotherapy works gently with the subconscious, where anxiety, past experiences and self-doubt often sit. In a deeply relaxed state, it becomes easier to loosen their hold.

  • Reduces performance anxiety, replacing self-doubt with calm and confidence
  • Releases emotional blocks linked to past experiences or negative associations with intimacy
  • Builds self-esteem and comfort, so you feel more relaxed and present in intimate moments

Private, respectful and completely confidential

This is one of the most personal things anyone can bring to therapy, and we treat it that way. Your privacy is protected, your pace is respected, and you never have to share more than you are ready to.

Questions you may have

Isn't this an embarrassing thing to talk about?

It is completely understandable to feel nervous, and you are not alone in that. Our therapists have supported many people with these concerns, and you will be met with warmth and acceptance. You set the pace, and you never have to say more than you are comfortable with.

Is everything I say kept confidential?

Yes. Your sessions are private and treated with the strictest confidence. This is a personal, sensitive area, and protecting your privacy is central to how we work.

Can you help couples as well as individuals?

Yes. We support both individuals and couples. Sometimes it helps to come together, sometimes on your own, and we can talk through what would suit you best.

Should I see my GP as well?

We usually recommend it. Some sexual difficulties have physical causes, so a GP can help rule these out or treat them. Therapy then works well alongside any medical care, addressing the emotional and psychological side.

Do you offer this online?

Yes. We offer support in person at our Hampshire practices and online across the UK, which many people find makes a private subject feel that bit easier to talk about from the comfort of home.

Will therapy really help?

Many people find that counselling and hypnotherapy help them ease anxiety, understand what is going on, and feel more confident and connected. Everyone is different, and we shape the support around you.
